Hi, I’m Samantha!
I’m a mumma, 4th Generation seamstress, all-around crazy Latina and, the person behind Stitched Co.
I’ve been sewing and crafting for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was lucky enough to live with my wonderful Grandmother who owned her very own tailoring, custom design and alterations business in Rose Bay, NSW. She also had her set-up, much like my own, where we lived. I remember the rows of machines, rolls and rolls of fabric, the nostalgic sound of the industrial machines roaring as they fired up, the thread and lint stuck to my clothes as I spent my time sitting and watching as both my Grandmother and Mother danced with the machines, fixing and creating.
Sewing and crafting have been such a huge part of not only my identity but how I connect with people. I am surrounded by talent in my family and I’m so honoured and proud to be a part of it (seriously, we have some crazy talent in my huge family).
Crochet happened to come later in my life as it was introduced to me by a close friend. She taught me the basics and I was hooked (pun absolutely intended). 10 years later and I still love it just as much. Crochet gives me the perfect challenge and with a world of possibilities, how could I not like it? In the last few years, I’ve been honoured to have taken on commissioned crochet blankets and each one is a proud achievement!
For years now, I have been thriving in my creativity by starting my vintage reproduction label “Sweetpea Vintage Boutique” and gained not only experience but confidence. For years I have wanted to teach sewing and after injuring myself in late 2022, I took it as a sign.
I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the help of my friends and family, but, mostly my beautiful Mother who taught me so much, not only about sewing but how to be strong and go for what I want with no regrets.
My vision is simple. Create a fun and safe environment for you and I to thrive in. I can't wait to share that with you all.
